Well well well, it's been a few months since my last confession... no really!
The journey of a self employed artist is a job that I'm very grateful for. My job is to basically be myself and the world says "Yeah, I want some of that..."
Whatever "it" may be, I feel like I've got my "it" back. I've been cutting and coloring hair on people for... well... I did my first blow-dry on myself at 10 years old. Then I shifted over to my sister's hot rollers at 11 years old. Started cutting the townspeople's hair at 13, I'm 48 now and I have not stopped.
There is not one day that goes by that I'm not cutting hair...or at the very least planning my next hair doo! I received a phone call from my "agent", I'm to meet up with Elizabeth Vargas from 20/20 tomorrow to develop hair magic for her TV appearances.
My most recent camera "doo" (to do hair for the camera) was on a girl named Adja, it was on an island, there was a little house, a boat, and a lot of talent. Adja The Turkish Queen is her title. Directed by Noah Blumenson-Cook (of Amanda Palmer - Michael Pope Fame). The band is called Black Fortress of Opium.
I just recently stylishly transformed actor Marc Vos for a short film called "Cease To Beat" written and directed by Stu Chudy of Optic Sugar in Providence, RI. I've been working as Art Director on the film by Christopher D. Grace called "3rd Shift: Michael's Lament" due out this Fall 2009.... as a certified Boston Redevelopment Authority "Artist" I am proud to be a part of the first independent film to emerge from the ArtHaven Studios at the ArtBlock Artist Community in the fashionable SOWA district in the South End of Boston.
I have also been involved in a film, Written and Directed by Michael Abbott titled "Amnesia".
Amanda Palmers DVD "A surrealist mini-mystery" by Michael Pope is a project that I have had the opportunity to be a part of... shooting the "cover" was exciting, as-well as handling the hair and makeup for the mini films.
In between all the film, movie & music madness... I encourage my new friends to take part in my world.
Hair, Makeup, Vocal Recordings, Photography ,Filming is almost a constant occurrence in my life lately...
Till my next writing time XXX DES
